Studies In Job

My Sunday School class is still plowing through the book of JOB. There is an end in sight, probably the end of January, then we will celebrate. It is a tough book to study but I think everyone would agree it is a good study. Conversations are always lively and interesting. Yesterday we finished chapter 30, but want to comment today on Chapter 28. Job is talking back to Bildad whom he cut short in chapter 25. Job had heard enough, chapter 26 begins Job's defense. We find Job asking where wisdom can be found?(v.12)
Wisdom cannot be bought for gold, and silver cannot be weighed as its price. (v.15) Where does it come from?(v.20)
"And he said to man,
Behold the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom,
and to turn away from evil is understanding."
Job 28:28

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge;
fools despise wisdom and instruction."
Proverbs 1:7

I would like to suggest the fear of the Lord is also:

*Wholehearted commitment to God
*Loving God more than anything or anyone
*Trusting God alone, loving God for Himself not just
for what I can get out of Him
*Following the call of God even in the darkest of night
or the most difficult circumstances. Didn't Jesus do that
in the garden of Gethsamene?

No matter the circumstances I may find myself in,may I bless the name of the Lord from this time forth and forevermore. From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised! Psalm 113:2

It is a hard book to read, let alone study...but what blessings, what lessons it contains!
