Monday Musings

One more post to wrap up my thoughts on suffering.

"The book of Job never answers the question, "Why do we suffer?" The way to cope with suffering is not to find out the immediate cause but to find out who God is. A deep, personal knowledge of God, our Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer is what we need to handle the stress of suffering. We need a relationship with God that enables us to endure suffering without losing faith, without cursing God, and without blaspheming God's name in actions and words." Kay Arthur

A week from today I will be "suffering" the deployment of my only son to a place I've never been and have no idea what he will be facing. But God will be my Rock and I am trusting Him to take care of the son I gave to Him twenty-two years ago.

I am thankful that God is my Redeemer and Sustainer.

I can certainly appreciate the quote you used in your post today..."the stress of suffering." I never quite thought of it that way, never took the time to examine grief in that light. But she's right - it is stressful. And I have endured because of my trust and faith in my Savior. Just as you will endure the upcoming separation from your son. Just as you have endured the loss of your Dad. He IS our Rock! To Him be all the glory.

I thank you for stopping by today, Jody. I will be praying for your son's safety while he is gone. I hope the deployment passes quickly and he returns home to the loving arms of his family very, very soon. God bless...
