Our Sunday School lesson in Job this past Sunday focused on Chapters ten and eleven. In chapter 10 Job is addressing God asking Him 'did you create me just to destroy me? Job once again acknowledges that it is God who made him, granted him life and steadfast love(v. 12) and His care has preserved Job's spirit.(v.12). Job again repeats what he said in chapter 3, "Why did you bring me out from the womb? Would that I had died before my eye had seen me." (v.18) Job knows what has happened to him is from God, he knows God can deliver him from this awful suffering, but why doesn't He? is Job's question.
"At this point, Job seems to have lost sight of the fact that God sanctifies His people by fire(Zechariah 13:9, 1 Corinthians 3:15,1 Peter 1:7)--a truth he does seem to know and acknowledges later on. His friends' persistent badgering(Zophar in Chapter 11)that only the wicked suffer is making things worse."

Do I proclaim with Job's wife--'Curse God and die?'
or
In the midst of the fire when the flames are the hottest and turn bright blue--'The Lord is my God'?

The Lord is my God. Always.
It is such an encouragement to see God's followers in the Bible sometimes have questions. I just saw this in my Joshua study as well....Joshua always obeyed God, but at one point he had some questions. I believe after that God told him to 'stand up and get off his face!', but nonetheless, I know God wants to answer our questions, and it is good to come to him with an honest heart when we are searching for answers...His answers.
