Goodbye Max

On a personal family note our family pet, Max, passed away this morning. While the sun was rising in the eastern sky around 5:30AM we were burying our dog we got as a pup when we moved to New York thirteen years ago.

He was known all over LaFayette for his barking and trying to escape the confines of the house even walking into the foyer of the church one Sunday morning just as worship was beginning. Someone had left a door open. It seemed funny this morning as I stepped out onto our deck it didn't matter anymore if the door was left open.

Yes, we complained about him in the last couple of years as he barked EVERY time someone walked in the door even if that person had only been gone five minutes. And he was getting hard of hearing and seeing I think as he barked at leaves blowing across the yard.

Max was a good dog, never bit anyone and was good with all the people who come in and out of our house everyday. It's very quiet today at our house, but I think we're done with pets once the fish and the hamster are gone.

So long Max.

Jody, I am so sorry you've lost your Max...our pets love us so unconditionally - in spite of his barking and Houdini-like qualities, I know you'll all miss him very much.
